Default HP Compaq tiny part needed

My laptop's fan failed t'other day and in the process of pulling it apart, I damaged the tiny clamp bar, which clamps the keyboard ribbon cable into the connector....

I'm wondering if anyone might have a scrap HP laptop board, from which the part might be available?

The HP Presario CQ62 (and perhaps others in the range) has ribbon cable which connects the keyboard to the main board, via a push in and clamp white connector on the main board. The clamp part is black and that is the only part I need.

Steps7 to 11 are the ones of interest, with step 11 showing the black clamping bar, in close up....

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

As a geek myself, I'm impressed that you have a website dedicated to the inside of your laptop

This is a Molex ZIF FFC header/connector, you can buy them from farnell/cpc etc.

That's me looking at the pictures and not paying attention to the rest of the site Doesn't look like an HP site either though.

Usually it's the power supply socket that fails first on these machines.

The good news is that I have installed a new fan reassembled it and surprise surprise it all works, apart from the keyboard being hit and miss.

Despite the suggestion that it was a Molex socket, I could not identify it.

[UPDATE] I went on the official HP site forum and enquired there. I still don't know what the socket type is called, but I did get one very helpful reply from someone who would seem to have a warehouse in the US, full of computers for parts. He couldn't at first find the exact model, so was going to pull several from similar machines in the hopes of a match and send them over. He has no found a CQ-62 and is sending the complete unit, less the battery over instead. I have offered twice to pay for the P&P, but so far he is ignoring my offer.

For now, I have managed to get it working with a spare wireless keyboard.
