Personally I'd go with Kleber. I've preferred them for years, with excellent results. They're made by Michelin and perform well and although not cheapest they're not bad value either. Easy to replace in France should you need to, too.

Interesting to read individual thoughts on the matter.
I am not really sure if it is best to stick to 34psi in the tyres or follow the guidelines of psi for a car at 100mph. I was surprised to read that most replies picked up on what they thought is too fast and a too full load for touring. I wondered what other people do when touring round with a full load when they go on holiday with the family. As I mentioned before, the car has never felt like it is being thrashed or really over its GLW. It has always effortlessly taken us along at the 80mph (130kph) speed limit. To the enquiry on the previous post, I travel along at 80mph as this is the speed limit after I see the 130kph sign. Thanks. |

Roof rack
Please note some bike racks have a maximum speed limit you can safely carry bikes on. I have a rear mounted Thule one and this carries three bikes- speed limit is 60 mph.

Hi all,
Just to further update on my journey. I travelled through France fully laden, IE 4 people, full roof box, Thule towbar bike rack with two bikes and a full boot. I received a mix of views to my question on what amount of pressure to put in the tyres and actually put in 35psi in each tyre as the load was roughly spread evenly across the vehicle. Any less did not seem enough and that pressure felt right. I put the cruise control onto 70mph on the motorways and the car behaved impeccably and was a real pleasure and easy to drive. On a 400 mile leg back to Eurotunnel the car achieved 42.3 mpg, measured brim to brim and for an auto I am pleased with that. |

When we go to the continent, i always put 35 in the front and 35 in the rear. Been doing it for the last 30 years. No probs.Always four up and a full boot. And i mean a full boot.
