Default starting problem

My CDT has suddenly developed a starting problem over the last 2 days. this has happened after short journeys of less than 2 miles. On returning to the car it has been difficult to start the second time took almost 10mins. I disconnected the fuel hose at the filter only to be covered in diesel when the wife turned the ignition on. Car was firing (all be it intermittent) then it suddenly started and ran as if nothing wrong. Just been out now the car fuel pumps could be heard for almost a minute and the car started as normal after being stood all night.

hope someone can help.

This has been linked in the past to a few causes

Easiest one for you to do is clean the fuel rail, cam and crank sensor connections before perhaps suspecting a Sensor itself

This has also been linked to an injector leaking and causing a loss of fuel rail pressure

Have a look at Rons site (from the banner above) lots of pics where various sensors are.

Default starting problems

hi,

just had the same thing with mine, when the fault codes were read by my garage it showed an ignition switch fault, the car ended up with an auto electrician who said that water had found it's way into the wiring loom and blown a sensor. hope this helps.
