Mine does it too, from 3250rpm. It's not intrusive, or loud, just noticeable as it doesn't do it lower in the rev range. I suspect that a non car enthusiast may not even notice it. It's definitely a mechanical noise, as a results of moving parts, rather than a vibration. I've put it down to its' highish mileage and unknown history. Sounds like tappets to me. I'm running 10/40 semi synthetic so maybe not ideal for a high miler?

Mine does it too,
has done since bought it some 3 years ago,
had just over 100,000 onclock, now done 145,000,
