"Laying Up" a Car?
I think I might have access to my parents double garage for the medium term future. I am seriously thinking of laying up my little ZR 1.4, which I have outgrown and I quite fancy a non MGR for a while at least.
What pre layup procedure would you suggest? I was thinking of just parking it up and perhaps running the engine every couple of months, perhaps connected to a trickle charger? Maybe a dust cover over car? Sure I have read about putting car on axle stands etc, maybe taking certain precautions with engine etc. Would welcome the wisdom of members of this forum.... |

I would do exactly as you described but instead of using axle stands to keep the wheels of the concrete floor I'd use a folded over piece of carpet under each wheel. That way.....every time you start the engine every couple of months you can move the car a few feet back and forth to stop the brakes binding/calipars sticking.

There is some advice here, depending on the duration of the storage http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/laying_up.html
