![]() If the car does not read a smoke reading after the first acceleration,this is the "blip" to initialise the machine it will give a reading" not detected "warning. Correct procedure would be to finish the smoke test and hand write on the emissions test that a reading was not detected. This is of course assuming the exhaust has been tested and been found to be complete and the gasses are indeed exiting the tailpipe. The mot test station is not obliged to issue a copy of the smoke test,unlike a gas test (petrol) where they should be issued.
