Default Removing water stains from white ceiling

Any recommendations out there??

Not sure if you can.... what I would do is make sure that what ever caused the stain can't do it again, paint with stain block (or proper undercoat) then re paint.

Probably not what you want to hear, but a professional painter (which I am not), will probably be able to tell you how to do it, and what to use

The stain is not on the paint, it is in the paint. If you overpaint it with new paint, the new paint will just suck up more of the stain.

The only fix is repainting.

Get a stainblock, I use this one,

Make sure you apply plenty, then allow to dry fully before painting over with new paint.

try painting over the patch with oil based paint first, that should seal it in

I had to do that when our hot water tank deposited its contents over the bedroom ceiling. It's really claggy stuff, and difficult to spread, but it does cover the water mark.

Universal under-coat, preferably not the water-based stuff.
