Default Snow foam

In the current grimy season, some say snow foam is good to work up a good froth and ensure the worst of the grime is loosened before washing.

If that's right, what's the best sort to get?

Thanks

After trying a few different types I settled on Bilt Hamber Autofoam used in conjunction with a Nilfisk pressure washer.

However, I very rarely use it as a snowfoam but use it as a prewash instead which is equally effective but without all the mess of snowfoam. Just buy a garden pump type sprayer - put a few squirts of autowash in and top up with warm water. Spray the car with it then rinse off with a domestic hose.

Snowfoam Pros:
Its fun to do

It looks cool

Snowfoam Cons:

Expensive for initial setup ie pressure washer and lance

Can be difficult to get the elusive thick foam you see on youtube

It doesn't leave your car clean - you still have to wash it making physical contact with the car.

You need to get your pressure washer out, plug it in, set up the lance etc etc which adds to the time it takes to wash your car

When its cold the foam lingers on your path sometimes till next day.

I personally do not like using pressure washers on the car - on more thna one occasion after use the bonnet alarm switch has started triggering plus the boot lock became sticky requiring lubrication.

Prerinse Pros:
Cost of setup is low ie sprayer is about £10

eg.

Just as effective as snowfoam

Prerinse Cons:
Inadvisable to do to a hot or in direct sunlight car as it must be rinsed off before drying
