Hi.
The BBC is rotten as far back as the Lord Reith days.
There were so many things wrong with the beeb from the early days even going back to 2LO in the early 20's.
Nothing surprises me now and I just wonder if they are making Tony a scapegoat to take the pressure of the big wigs.

Any other organisation with a reputation like the BBC would have folded and gone out business years ago. Yet here we all are in a system paying them good money, year in and year out. It doesn't make any sense

Agreed - when you think that the BBC was set up with a Licence Fee by Law back in the days of WW2 and was used for our own Governments "information to the masses" (and wisely so at that time of course) - is it not totally and utterly bizarre that in this day and age of free access of information that we have to pay for the BBC via a Licence Fee - payable by Law?

And then this money is used to fund the BBC as we see it today? - A hierarchical monolith that allowed child abuse on its premises and the only reason those at the top escape blame is because they are/were so remote and divorced from their minions that they (apparently) had no idea what was happening.

And we pay for all this ..........

To sum up the wasteful BBC i tell people this story .

The taxi rank i work on is right next to the old BBC Scotland .

They moved about 4 years ago to a new site.

When they were here at the old site it was a goldmine for cabbies.

They would use cabs on credit for EVERYTHING.

Went for lunch in a cab and returned in one.
They would take a cab to get paperclips etc if they ran out .

They would bring in members of the public from outrageous distances for a two minute on air interview then send them home in a cab .

The story i tell is of the day i done no less than 13 credit jobs from there and i was just one cab .

I always said we should just have moved our rank from the main road and put it at the front door of the BBC .

They moved away and broke my heart .

A bunch of wasters.

Oh yes

The contract was with the radio company TOA .

We had 900 cabs and no doubt all of them could tell a BBC story.

Another one that i recall was sending an underling in my cab to buy a toaster.

She could have bought it a mile away but went on a ten mile round trip so she could do some shopping for herself .

All on credit.
