I found the best way was once you have the rear clips in place, grope around under the cushion to make sure the clips are in the right position then an almighty thump above them! I found I had to shove the cushion towards the rear to get the clips in the right place.

Trouble was even with a notched piece of wood could not get the rear clips on.
But pushing down on the front clip one side would clip on but the other side would not.
