If both bulbs don't work, check the reverse switch on the side of the gearbox.

The reverse-switch for the manual gearbox is accessed as follows:
Jack car up on axle stands. Remove passenger-side front wheel, remove wheel arch liner and undertray from car. You should now have good access to the gearbox. Now, the exact location I am unsure of having not removed mine but I am told it is relatively easy to see. There should be a wiring plug going into it - this can be pulled out to allow you then to unscrew the switch from the gearbox. Cleaning up the contacts may help if not you will need a new switch. Hope that helps. |

Swapped my reverse switch yesterday (both lights out and sensor parking not working). 10 mins job to do the whole job (wheel off, 19mm spanner to remove/refit, wheel back on)
I tested the old one and the it seems to provide signal/continuity when pressed. I cleaned it up with some wd40 and reinstalled but still no lights so swapped with a new one (less than a tenner from Rimmers) and its all working now. Now to get onto the next job of the rear window heater causing awful reception on the radio !!!! |
