Now I’ve an image of you driving a taxi in red 6” stilettos. Surely not! Or maybe......😉

Sure you risk the odd things breaking down but why buy it in the first place?

Because You enjoy the damn thing.

This was supposed too be a relaxing walk with Bruce the GS wolf wolf and I get this what a great start too the morning.
Totally with you on this Dave.
Having said that, I have got a 1986 Mini Mayfair with 9000 miles on it, still on its original tyres, battery etc exactly as it left the dealers. It’s in storage at the moment........only because I can’t justify another car tax, MOT etc. Plan is to ‘recommission’ it at some point and then USE IT!!!
Not interested in what it’s worth or if it devalues it, I buy and own my cars for the love of them, not for monetary gain or investment.

Many years ago, there was a Mini doing the rounds at all the Mini shows. Had 39 miles on the clock from new. It got entered into all the concours events and every year it won prizes yet, every year the mileage only went up by 1 mile which was only put on by it moving from his garage to his covered trailer and back
He’d turn up at Mini shows, unload it from the trailer and then spend all day telling folks how mint and low mileage it was
He’d never actually taken it for a drive anywhere..........what is the point?

I love seeing all the classic road and race cars ragging it round Goodwood being used for what they were built for.

I went to the jaguar northern national last year with Stu (Fusilier) and they had brought in rules to stop things like garage queens being rolled off trailers to win all the prizes. To enter the concourse section MOT certificates had to be provided to prove the car had done a minimum of 500 miles between mots with a current MOT valid. It brought down the amount of cars entered but made it more fair to the enthusiastic drivers who used them as intended.

So well said that person.

To me they also do as much of the maintenance/fixing themselves as well. Anyone can take a car to a garage for someone else to do the work, unless it's specialist stuff (T4 work eg).

Along with the garaged/don't drive 'em brigade, those that let someone else look after & do all the work for them so they can have their "pride & joy" are in the same league. To qualify that, I accept there are some folks who physically can't, like me NOW. Or, & I'm not being sexist a lot of the lady owners, A lot of female owners/enthusiasts will have a go though.

IMVHO a true enthusiast not only drives their cars regularly but knows & has removed/replaced most nuts & bolts on their cars & possibly knows them all by name

Now running away very quickly

Regards

Paul

Anybody buying a car just to look at would be better off buying an expensive piece of porcelain and putting it on the mantelpiece. Least then you wouldn't have to walk all the way out to the garage to see your "investment".

Someone having a car in pristine condition & just driving it to shows for the plaudits/pats on the back is also not what I would call an enthusiast either.

Still running away

Regards

Paul
