GROM Dashlinq
Thought I would give a heads up for people who want to connect their Android phone to their older head unit that accepts an iPod/iPhone connection.
Older head units with perfectly good sound quality always seemed to accept only iPhones/iPods. Android always was a secondary thought. Even when support was there, it was lost when Android changed the way they connected. It's really a USB cable with interface gubbins that pretends to be an iPod and with the accompanying app and connects to my Spotify account and displays track info. Charges phone as well. Yes, you can use Bluetooth. But, the sound quality / levels are not as good. Anything on your phone plays through the cars speakers, so you get sat nav sounds, etc. Type c or micro usb versions available. https://gromaudio.co.uk/products/acc...inq-typec.html |

Do you have a GROM adaptor unit fitted? Such as this: https://gromaudio.co.uk/products/gro...n-kit-649.html.
If so is it any good? I have a Symphony radio and would like to keep it. However I miss my USB MP3 archive. |

No, I have an aftermarket Kenwood head unit and the Dashlinq cable plugs into a USB port on the head unit.
Some others can advise about the GROM adapters and Rover OEM head units such as the Symphony. I did have one fitted to a Toyota I used to have. It pretended to be a CD changer and worked quite well most of the time, but could play up and ignore the USB key. Never did get it working reliably before I sold the car. Sound quality was as good as the head unit. It was a direct digital connection, so no loss of quality. Maybe they have better firmware now ... |
