Default 75 06 diagnostic computer not picking up ecu

I have had 75 for a few years now and any issues i have had with them my pals mot station there computers have always been able to pick them up.
I bought a 2006 with an injector problem and need to find out what one is the problem. There computer picks up my daily driver which is a 2004 tourer no problem, but the 06 all it is picking up is the brake electrics and a few others but it is not picking up the ecu on engine side. They have tried their new updated computer and there older one but both of them cant get connected to ecu.
The car runs and drives with no Engine warning on dash the engine is just smokey.
Has anyone any advice of why it is not picking it up.

thanks

Hope you all had a good new year

I would check the socket where they plug in the diagnostics first for damaged pins.
Then check for water damage in the plenum chamber.
