Is there a fairly substantial difference between the pre facelift and facelift carpets? My pre project drive heater enclosure panels are made of fairly nice carpet, but my facelift carpet is noticeably quite low quality. If the rest of the pre project drive carpet is the same quality as the heater enclosure panels, which I assume it is, I may change my carpet in the summer. Also, when did the quality of the carpet change? Was it from pre facelift to facelift, or some time before that?

The Mk1 is a much nicer carpet, with a nice cut pile similar to the carpet heater panels, rather than the rougher Mk2, which I think is cheaper quality or certainly feels it. I'm pretty sure that the carpet changed with the facelift but the heater panels may have gone earlier as part of PPD.

I tried to fix my headlight shining into the air issue, it seems the plastic cog has perished and it's totally ineffective, will have to take it out at some point.

Not a good day at all my diesel's clutch has started slipping after 2 years and less then 20000 miles add that to the snapped rear springs and leaking dampers, then to top it off somebody has clipped my parked car and driven off leaving me the repair bill

Who fitted that clutch for you? I'm betting a pound to a pinch of salt, the input shaft splines will be rusty as can be, causing the clutch not to disengage correctly.

Most of the scuffing should polish out, or at least look a bit better, and another mirror sourced.

What a sickener though
