No, I didn't say that nor did I imply it. The point was made in defence of Haynes as 'only good as a jacking pad', which I disagree with. The reason people have that opinion is because of the oft cited errors and the general availability of RAVE and its like. I know garages and pros don't use Haynes manuals, but like most DIY mechanics, I've had to use them for fifty years and found them indispensible. And not everyone has/had access to the factory manuals - legal or otherwise. But yes, Haynes have lost it nowadays and RAVE's £50 paper version being marketed by Xpart is a travesty (IMO of course). I still buy a Haynes manual for every car that I purchase provided one is available.
Haynes manuals are a bit like Woolworths - many moan about them when available and then moan when not. Some people will moan if you gave them a free car about it not having been washed first! |
