What will Lewis do when he finds out there is a Broadway and West End musical called Hamilton that doesn't even feature cars....

As to the title of this thread.--That is absurd. Someone has forgotten to switch on his brain.--
I guess the OP would prefer an exciting character like Raikonen. ( Or however you spell it.----). Nobody is perfect. However Hamilton is trying hard to be that in his job. What's the real motivation. Who knows. Money , Fame, Power--what ?? He does good though and as you can tell, I'm a fan. My opinion is based 99% on what he does on the race track. I'm not interested in his private life as I'm just purely and simply a motor racing fan. As for the Hamilton name-- |

My apologies, of course it didn’t quickly turn into a Hamilton bashing thread.....
It started out as one. 👹👹

No need to apologise for having a different view/opinion of something or someone, Mal. I think that you posted with good grace and without trying to have a dig at the opposing view/poster. That is how it should be and for that I thank you.

You say you are not interested in his private life. Consider Jimmy Savile and Rolf Harris, bear in mind their "private" lives, a celebrities private life can have serious repercussions for the sponsors and the people they come into contact with. Would you want such private lives kept secret? In the case of Jimmy Savile it was and look what happened. Considering Saviles' charity work and the claims against him should be he hailed a hero or a villain? Celebrities private lives ........ are not private. What Hamilton does and says will go into the public domain for all to see and if they want to remain a hero they need to consider their actions. The "disagreement" between the wives' of footballers Vardy and Rooney is currently in the public domain. macafee2 |

I admire his skills in motor racing upon reaching the top, he has a privileged lifestyle which he has rightly earned, however why does he feel the need to be the victim and champion of people? I’m not interested in his opinion, just like any other sportsperson, just do your job. Be interesting to see his morals if he accepts a gong from the evil Empire?

I suppose it's easy to criticise from a distance and some of that has reasons other than the 'sport' he constantly excels in, whatever anyone says about the back-up he gets from his employers.
He has in the past been scoffed at for his fortune but that now appears to be resolving. In the news today, his knighthood is confirmed so he joins the select body of other sports knights. It might not be widely known but part of the vetting for qualification for that title includes in-depth examination of his tax affairs. It transpires he is, and has been for a long time, in the top 5000 of highest taxpayers in the UK. That's not necessarily earnings, just tax actually paid. The fact that he lives in a tax avoider's haven like Monaco and resists the temptations to jump on bandwagons is surely to his credit. More power to his elbow. By the way, that examination takes a long time so the fuss about the award did not have any effect on the decision to consider him. But I do wish he'd get over the challenging hair complex.
