The handbrake is a bit like the Sabb 9-3 if I remember. Test drove a couple about 5 years ago, and I only got caught out once!

Had a very tidy bright red Saab park next to me today, so peered in through the window. You are completely correct, they have the release button under the handbrake grip.

Funny how the press seemed to always complain about it on the MG6, but I've never heard it mentioned on the Saab

Vauxhall.mokka had an similar design. I thought it uncomfortable, as ergonomically my thumb felt stronger.

Similarly mk2 meganes had an unusual handbrake release, although operated by the thumb.

They didnt feel right to me, but I thought you could become.used to either after a while though.

Our local NI MGR man has a diesel MG6 as a courtesy car, so I've driven it a fair bit now. The interior trim is HORRIBLE, and it had that irritating start/stop thingy, but he found a way to disable that.

On the upside, I find it quite a lively and enjoyable car to drive - quicker than my supposedly 160bhp tractor, and I prefer the handling too

I agree with all Hogweed's comments. I have never owned an MG6 but Souls (ex Rover dealer) have a petrol 11-registration MG6 courtesy car. I find the interior very square and unattractive and the multitude of little lights on the dashboard are very confusing. I also don't like the handbrake. I haven't caught my thumb in it (yet) but the angle at which it works is awkward. It might feel better with left hand drive,
I also agree the car is generally very nice to drive. It its lively, handles well and has nice steering. It is also still good to drive at over 77K miles.
