As two of my cars are Classics with agreed value that is another bunch of hopes I have to jump through every year. There are a limited amount of companies that will even take them on. As the Women in the brokers I use said if my garage ever catches fire that will be one of hell of a claim to try and resolve. Fingers crossed it never happens.

Good point! If there are concerns about values, and anyway they are bound to be wrong, I believe there are companies that specialise in classics' valuations. Practical Classics magazine? It might be useful to arrange something close to the MOT test to present to your insurance company when renewal arrives. After all, all we want is accurate settlements.

They are not really interested in the small crumbs of sheet metal. They are concerned about very large claims such as that by Lord Brocket. A couple of grand is not going to bother them but a claim for care for £60k per year which might go for 30 years will!

My broker is for ever asking me to undertake an agreed value and I'm forever telling them that I can't afford the luxury after being fleeced on their multi-car policy (I can only drive one at a time).

I did look at Multicar policies but they dont appear to be any cheaper. The agreed value on the Jensen in over £50k and the Capri is about half of that. As individual policies they add up to under £400 but as a multicar they want more than that and apparently it can get difficult with agreed values.
At the end of the day if we want these toys we have to pay for them, I always tell myself that the Road fund licence is free and they are not depreciating so its a good thing.

Yeah Steve, I've been all round the houses on this. Put each car on it's own relevant policy, put all classics together on a classic policy and the moderns on their own or multi (however you cut it 99% of insurance companies only allow one vehicle to have NCB) and One modern (with the NCB) with a couple of classics with the other policy also with one modern and two classics.
It's a real struggle to get below £750.... sigh!
