Cool On this day

On the 9th August 1965, the first-ever Ford Transit rolled off the production line at the company‘s Langley commercial vehicle plant in Berkshire (a location once used to build Hawker Hurricane fighters in World War II). However, demand outstripped the capability of the plant, and production was moved to Swaythling, near Southampton in Hampshire, until closure in 2013.
More than eight million Transit and Transit Custom models have been built since which, lined up end-to-end, would circumnavigate the globe.
