Hi Mike,

The "maths" to which you've referred is a common myth. The monetary value of your car is irrelevant. Its practical value to you is very high; you "bloomin' love it" and it's been "faultless" for ten years; that's what's important.

Systematically replacing parts in the hope of striking lucky is not the best approach. It drains your bank account and is demoralising. Find someone with a multimeter and start by checking that a voltage appears at the pump connector.

Replacing rear discs is a staple task for garages (and I've done it myself on my car). £600 sounds excessive to me. Even if your mechanic is your brother-in-law, I would harvest some more quotes for that routine replacement.

I'm sure that you can live with that.

Start an internet search for people in your area with the expertise to tackle these problems at a reasonable price.

I hope that this helps a little.

Just had a thought, Mike. Did you check the 150Amp mega fuse?
