Failed it's MOT today.
The ZT failed it's MOT today, two majors and a few advisories.
Fuel leak from tank (bit wierd as I can't see anything and nothing on the drive where its kept parked. Severe leak from OSR shock absorber. Thing is, both were replaced albeit 4yrs ago and have done less than 22,000 miles. What life expectancy would you expect from shocks now ? |

Ask the MOT tester to give you details of the fuel leak so that you can attend to it. Replacing rear shock absorbers is not a big deal. You're right that a lifespan of 22,000 miles is unacceptable. This time, source your own replacements from a reputable source, preferably X-Part direct. Simon

I wonder if they are referring to the fuel cooler at the rear OS wheel, which can leak albeit slightly 1

UPDATE
Another 12 months ticket 🥳 Rear shock replaced (thank you DMGRS). As to the fuel leak, my garage had a good look all round underneath and on top via the back seat hatch and could find no evidence of an active leak So they cleaned up round rhe tank, phoned the MOT testing statio, told the tester their findings and he passed it an hour later on the retest |

Had a lightbulb moment a while ago re the mysterious fuel leak.
This is the first time this tester has seen my car, my usual tester is between stations. 😃. About 2yrs ago I cleaned the tank straps up and sprayed them with clear waxoyl, and likely elsewhere around that area. . Wonder if that residue is what the tester thought was a fuel leak ? |
