I've seen on TV a company that had a chemical bad, and they put a transparent sheet with walnut print on top of the chemicals.
This "walnut" became liquid, and then they lifted a dash part out of the liquid through the "walnut" and the patron was on the part.

And they had an variety of patrons.

Must be cheaper then this one

I'll see if i can find somewhere something about it

There is a Mercedes Audio install that uses this process. The photos showing the process was quite good. The finished items really looked the part!
