My renewal with 34sp.com is due up soon

Don't use all that much space, just running a couple of forums (one ticking over, one soon to be put out of it's misery)

34sp want £27.95 for a year. I'm sure this is about three times what it was last time and also that renewal was for 2 or even 3 years

So, two questions:-

1. Can anyone recommend a cheaper hosting company?
2. How hard will it be to transfer my two forums over?

I use IXWEBHOSTING and they include a .COM domain in the basic plan at $3.95 a month. (Yes dollars it's a US company). I have the expert plan (The lowest) and point my other domains to sub domains off my main hosted one. It's child splay to administer and is very good for the money. Unlimited space, FTP, emails etc..



As for transferring a domain. You need to get in touch with the current provider and the new one and let them sort it out. I've transferred 6 in the past and only had a single days outage between them.

Thanks Steven, but I'm looking for "as cheap as possible" ($3.95 a month works out about the same as now... )

Can anyone else recommend anything? 34sp has doubled it's cost in the time I've been with them.....

Is the £27.50 per year including the domain and hosting? If so thats a very good deal.

Some companies charge more than that just for the domain.

I know domain registyration has gone up for .COM, .NET etc.. but I've not noticed any increase in hosting prices. In fact It's gone down over the last few years.



A cheap one that may suite you is

It's £1.59 month but does not include the domain. However a .COM domain is only about £7 with them so it's cheaper by a little.

I have no idea about the quality of service. I know I'd pay the extra for IXWEBHOSTING as I've used them for years and never had any downtime even when my main server died.

I've tried the eBay lifetime seller types before and you get what you pay for. The last 2 just cancelled my account and decomissioned the server as they got bored.

As I only paid £30 for the lifetime deal and it lasted 15 months I was happy but they are mostly sharks and I'd stay clear unless you setup a few for redundancy.
