If they keep you on fluids then they are contemplating having a go. If they say you should be eating then they have changed thier minds. They want it to be nice and cold not inflammed or infekted. Then not much risk of them spilling pus all over your innards

OK will see you in the morning, why are you on a drip? I'm nil by mouth. No, dont need that you can eat and drink as you wish!!

8:30 am next morning, surgeons round, any pain? nope, OK you can be discharged and we will make you an appointment as an outpatient

Outpatient appointment is in two weeks time.

Should have told them that you were still in excrutiating pain and got the op over and done with.
