The cover is to the front of the auto box, near the radiator and for petrol engines is under the airbox, for diesels you can see it without taking anything off.

thanks matt, I know the connectors have took them apart and fould water in them, dryed it out got all my gears back for 4 weeks, then on the way to last sundays meet lost top gear on the m40 . got the gears back got to meet but same thing again on way home.
undid connector to find water again in there
dryed out and all working ok now.

mate pointed out there has not been any raining in the four weeks car was running alright. so hope it just rian getting in, only time will tell.
going to see how it go next time it rains, have moved plugs to top of the gearbox now.
