Just for reassurance my 1.8T always warmed up quickly, did that for 5 years. The "benefit" of a small coolant capacity

Yes mine first hits 'normal/75C' after a mile or so and needs another mile to reach true normal (96-98C). Typical running range is 96-103C, faster is lower, slower is higher. This is due to pump pressure opening the PRT. The PRT needs around 2000 rpm to start it opening. You can vary the pressure by changing gear but maintaining constant speed. Interesting to watch and fathom.

Yes the car OBD will do the same but with this on display you dont get to see the mileage/trip readings etc at the same time. Plus when you turn off the ignition the OBD defaults back to the mileage counter so if you want the temperature gauge you need to set it up again - not a big job I know, but the Hans Schaaper unit is an excellent add on. I wouldnt be without it now! |
