Colin is right, no weaseling out of it I am afraid! DVLA thought of this after the no tax tomfoolery saga.

£450 is still a lot cheaper than in most European countries...........

If the decision to buy a car hangs on ~20 quid a month.............don't buy it.

Yes, but I bet unlike me you don't have fifteen cars to keep in rent, if you factor road tax for that little lot & perhaps you can see my reticence to fork out £450, when others are paying £260

Sound to me you have a luxery problem. If I had the funds to keep 15 cars (assuming all are insured and taxed) the difference between 450 and 260 all of a sudden looks like a drop in the ocean.

All are insured, however I tend to only tax the select few I choose to drive, still I think it's a bit steep at £450, especially as it was manufactured in 2004, despite being registered in late 2006.
Grrr

Just go for it. ZT260 is a good car to have (I'm a bit biased though)

As for your unfortunate dilemma, just don't tax one of the other cars

I've decided to hold out for a better car, this one simply doesn't tick the boxes for me.

1. It's a poverty spec mk 2
2. the lpg conversion looks gash
3. It's disappointing grey
4. stupid VED !

http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3454312.htm

I rather think the tourer looks poor in Mk 2 guise, especially having seen a mk 2 ztt 190 se in x power grey yesterday, in the flesh so to speak.
I'm going to hang on for a nice Mk1 tourer, with e/w x 4 and will convert it to gas myself.

You seen the fully loaded ZT260 at 4k on eBay Brian? High mileage but looked quite smart. I was tempted to go and look but talked myself out of it, with some help

+1

Seems weird the ou are bulking on the tax issue in these circumstances!

Poverty spec V8s have their own charm and the LPG one seems cheap if it is okay mechanically,

If you want a monogram ZTT V8 there is one for sale at the mo with a charger...

Wait scrub that, I just remembered your cash crisis in relation to the tax!
