Fog Lights Premium Bumper?
I all, quick question.
I bought a pair of Mk2 Facelift Fog lights for my project as i understood these were the correct ones to have. However, I offered one up to the bumper last night and they do not fit. I.E. Mk2 Fog (round) Vs Premium bumper slot (oval)? Were there two types of bumper i.e. a Mk 1 and a Mk 2 Premium bumper made? Regards Nige

What you have bought (Well what you were sold as facelift fogs) are MGZT fogs, many people especially on eBay do not know the difference and put them up as MG and 75 etc etc, (I have seen a plethora of fogs for sale to fit Rover 75 MGZT). MG ZT MKI and MkII fogs are round and only fit MG ZT. They are universal apart from the plug socket, MkI and MkII have different plugs/sockets. The bulb holders cannot be swapped, the loom plugs have to be changed if you fit MkI to MkII and vice versa.
This is the fog fitted to Rover 75 MkII and Rover premium bumper It is almost identical to the Rover 75 MkI fog. The MkI fog has a metal adjuster that requires a bit cutting away from the bracket for the adjuster to pass. As with the ZT, the Rover 75 MkI and MkII have different plugs/sockets. You will need MkI loom plugs if you fit MkI fogs to a MkII or premium bumper or vice versa.

I am toying with selling my premium bumper. It is complete with new indicators and new fog lamps, chrome surround, plastic meshes and top trim (internal)
There are no internal fixings for the fog lamps so pods would need to be made. I have no idea on the value of this, any ideas ? |

Premium Bumper
Like a lot of members who want to fit this bumper, I have two cars that need the premium bumper treatment, I have three bumper of which one has the chrome trim, but it is damaged. This summer I intend to make a patten of the chrome trim and make a GRP mould so I can reproduce them. Chroming is a problem; I am thinking of using mirror chrome heat wrap unless anybody has a better idea.
My bumpers have the fog light housings, but there are a lot of bumpers that are bare. I might reproduce the housing in GRP as it looks quite a simple shape to reproduce. The mesh is a problem. The plastic mesh needs injection moulding and is too expensive to manufacture. I might ask Radioguy if he can obtain just the mesh from the MG7, or if they are not available I will look for a good quality mesh. This is one of the last mods I need to do, along with the Marmite lighting. If anybody has any ideas for a good quality mesh, could you let me know. I do remember once seeing a mesh on a Bentley that really sparkled and would look good in place of the black plastic mesh. Last edited by rover54; 22nd February 2012 at 21:41.. Reason: typo error |
