Fitted a pair of rear springs. Followed the advice on here about loosening the subframe and not too bad a job at all. Rides much nicer now :¬)

If the slave was outside the bell housing the job would be simple, although in my case it's the Thrust Bearing that's on it's way out.
I've never liked the plastic encased bearings. Back in the day I worked in a shop that specialised in MG's, mainly MGBs. this was when the industry was changing over from the old carbon bearings to the plastic type and we had so much trouble with the plastic we refused to supply them. I now see that this is still an issue. This time I am having a trusted shop do the job for me. When I put the gearbox back into my MGF in the spring it brought on an episode of atrial fibrillation. That was one time I was glad I have a pacemaker. Getting old isn't for sissies!

Must get myself one of those chrome grills. Gorgeous and exactly what the car deserves.

Drove 35km to work. Just like every other work day for the last seven years! That's boring I know, but the thing is I'm doing it in a car that is now 16 years old, done 100,000 miles (161,000 km) and is still my daily drive. THAT is what is special; all that driving, plus leisure driving too of course in my trusty ZT, with hardly a moment of worry. You can't say that about lots of other brands, especially not ones that are no longer in business and getting rarer by the day!

Alpine adventures
Today, I drove over the St Bernard Mountain Pass between Italy and Switzerland in Spike. Nearly 200,000 miles on the clock and tackling the big Alps like a new car.

Was yesterday...took my car up to see Astraeus in Tayport, where he sorted out a new fan resistor, new fuel filter, fitted new rear engine mount, new intercooler rings (which it did not need..), gearbox oil change (old oil was actually quite good!), fixed the airbag link underneath the driver's seat (I think, forgot to ask him, but no more warning light) and he took off my black oak fascia and replaced it with wooden walnut to be finished next week), a job I was dreading to attempt myself. I'm loving the new look!
So well done me! No, actually, well done and thank you Astraeus! Only 5 more items on my list...

I took a drive in my 75 to the Peugeot dealer to buy a new Peugeot. The wife's current car has become a death trap so it's time to replace it. I found a beautiful Rover 75 V6 in excellent condition on the internet and made an appointment earlier this week to come see and probably buy it on thursday. So the wife called in on thursday and asked the seller if the car was still there: no sold. Such a pity, Peugeot it is...
