Used all the collective knowledge that has been provided to this forum over the years to retrofit cruise control to my 75 diesel.
Fitted the module last weekend, the master switch yesterday and the steering buttons earlier. First try and nothing. A further read and a rummage round the clutch pedal switch and I now have functioning cruise, albeit not yet programmed correctly via T4. Quite pleased with myself and grateful to this forum for giving me the knowledge to have a successful outcome. |

There is nothing better than it working properly, I know it annoys me when I'm testing an ECM which doesn't have it enabled Brian |

I fitted a new lower engine mounting. It has made a decent difference to the noise and vibrations inside the car, not cured it, but a big difference.
Then fitted new neoprene seals to the inlet manifold and EGR valve. Suspension top mount will have to be for another day! ( weekend )

Finished washing and polishing it. Although it lives in a garage and gets washed regularly it was still surprising how much dirt I got off with a clay bar.
I have been using Meguiar's products lately and I have to say that I am very impressed with them, a bit expensive but I think they are worth it. I have used Auto-glym in the past but have never been particularly impressed with them, compared to the Meguiar's their polish leaves a lot of white residue - and I'm still finding areas of it behind bits of trim etc. where I think a previous owner has used it, cue breaking out the toothbrush, cotton buds and cocktail sticks to get it all off. Noted a few little bits of paint where the front mud flaps were fitted need attention so may see about getting a bodyshop to look at them in the new year. Yes I agree entirely. I had already looked on the T4 list for my nearest person and saw that it is Big Russ. I will get winter out of the way and pay him a visit. Be rude not to have the 160 map added while I am there. |

I normally avoid automated car washes but with a funeral to go to on Saturday and no time to get my ZT looking respectable I took it through the local car wash.
I was a bit alarmed by the amount of water roaring down the windscreen toward the plenum but the car ran fine afterward. Later in the day though I got a bulb out warning for one of the sidelights, which turned out to be a false alarm. The next day my fuel guage started reading 1/4 full even though I had filled the tank. shutting off the car and restarting made this go away. Worried, I opened up the plenum but it was dry as a bone inside. (I had cleaned out the drains when I changed the pollen filter during the summer.) I'm hoping that these anomalies were just a fluke but I am keeping my fingers crossed that no more electrical gremlins appear. I'm also disappointed that the fog light bulb that burned out last week is still burned out after the other issues cured themselves!

I never use an automated car wash, those you drive through, or the hand car wash specialist. They are not hand car wash, they use the powered water lance that breaks your window seals and causes other gremlins to appear.

Took her out for a quick spin today, she's been stood 4 weeks in this cold wind and rain, but she soon sprang into life with just one turn of the key.
I don't reckon I will ever find another car battery as good as this one, will it get me through another winter? The battery must be at least 7 years old now, it was on the car when I bought it. |

Refitted the original ECM to the ZT, posted off a tested DDE4 to it's owner, and used it for several tip runs.
That's a load less car junk hanging about the house........it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas Brian |
