Not up to date with windows as my old XP unit was been pensioned off for some time and I've been using Mint for some time. Just feeling my way with Win 10 at the mo.
Has your new lappy got Win10 on? if so get rid of McAfee, I only use what`s in Windows and never had any trouble.
Just my opinion.

I think Colin is referring to the actual EEPROM binary files and not Phil's program
If it is the program he's after then he only needs to look at the first post in this thread

Re-read the post, I can see now, I think one of my eyes must have been shut.

Disabled McAfee and the programme now works in Windows10 fine. Now been given a Dell laptop with a duff HDD, this one will have dual booting for different diagnosis programs. At least my brain seems to working again.

McAfee labels Phils software as Artemis D91A961007D3, which means the software is unknown to McAfee & so it deletes it. I have submitted it to McAfee as a false positive, so the problem with McAfee should soon be corrected. Avast also sees it as an issue and that has also been submitted, but kaspersky does not, neither does malwarebytes, spybot, or spyhunter. I have tested Phils software in a virtual machine and it is clean.

You can read more about MaCfee and Artemis here https://community.mcafee.com/thread/2016

Please don't forget to hit the donate button, to show some appreciation towards Phil T4. Otherwise what is the point of him carrying on doing this sort of thing for us all.

It seems Microsoft security essentials sees a problem as well. Has anyone submitted this as a false-positive to Microsoft? If not I will do so.

Clearly something in there has the same signature as a virus of some sort- but I have no doubt its a false alarm and the software is fine!

I had to disable my antivirus (Avast) to get it to download, first time I opened it Avast "ate" it! Just need to stick to the BMW software.

it has no Virus Alf, it is because it is an executable file (.Exe) that windows flags it...

When you go to download it save it as T4.Bin and then when it is downloaded change the name to T4.Exe and you can run it...
