before i fitted the stat the temp would not get above 66'C unless i was stuck in the london rush hour then it would slowly creep upto high 70's, but always dropped like a stone when the blower was turned on and even quicker if the aircon came on, to have mid 70's and it be stable even when the aircon is active is a step forward for me, and the air is very hot! maybe the temp probe is lazy!

It is certainly possible, as long as you are happy with the improvement let's
hope it continues.

I have found a GB company who can supply the 205F (96.1C) thermostats for £10.94 each

which is reasonable as the cost to have them sent from the USA is astronomical!
I DO NOT THINK THAT OUR DIESELS WILL REACH THIS TEMPERATURE DURING THE WINTER.

ok spent 2 an a half hours trying to get home down the old kent road, so plenty of time to whatch the temp. she peaked at 98'C where the fan cut in and the temp dropped to 93'C when the traffic eventually dissappered and i got speed up to 30ish mph the temp settled around 85'C so all seems good

So finally it seems that if you want your diesel engine to give out a reasonable amount of heat in the winter you have to spend 2 1/2 hours driving in 'stationery' traffic down the old Kent road.

I've been reading this thread all week. Done the temp test on a 20mile trip and the car never got above 62C. On the way back I dropped into Europarts and now have the Clio 88c stat so I'm now trying to get myself motivated to go and fit it.

My mph I've reckoned is around 35 which I've alway thought was very low. This it has to be said, is round the houses. I'm hoping to see an improvement on this.

I'll post my results as well, when I've done a bit of running around.

Thanks to everyone, for yet again, a very informative thread on something a garage is never going to know or fix.

Nah Colve, just drive it like you stole it and you can get all the heat you need!

right, I've bought the stat, I've opened the bonnet and I've looked. Yes we see the pipe/hose the stat fits into. HOW THE HELL do we disconnect it. Do you have to take the manifold off first?

I'm actually looking at going the other way in (from the other end) but it's under the A/C pipes? this is not an easy job unless you know otherwise!
