I lost most of my grandparents (all but one) when I was too young for it to really hit home. I lost my parents and several aunts and uncles in rapid succession. I got to the point that I couldn’t attend an uncles funeral, just couldn’t face another one.

What a miserable wet rainy day it's been here. The winds are getting up again.
Pork shoulder chops with baked sweet potatoes & broccoli for tea. Bags of 6 big sweet potatoes for 62p at ASDA this morning, I got a few bags, love em.

Thanks Mike,
It looks like the funeral is going to be a while yet. Apparently there is a backlog due to strike action...I wasn't aware that the funeral industry had taken any industrial action

My Dad's parents passed away when I was a lot younger. I was about 11 when Grandad died and 17 when Nan died. My Mum's Dad passed away about thirty years ago so Nan spent all that time as a widow. In that time, she travelled the world (Grandad wasn't one for foreign countries) on her own visiting America, Canada, Australia, India amongst many other destinations. She got to do so many things that most people her age wouldn't dream of doing in her later years. She had a wonderful rich and varied life as a Mother with her loving children, as a Wife with her husband and then as a Widow seeing the world but always having time for her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. I consider myself very lucky to have had my Nan around me for so long and have learnt so much from her. She will be very much missed by all her family and all those that knew her.

Good evening all, how is everyone?
I was at the hospital again last week, thankfully I got the all clear from ENT, just a benign tonsil cyst is what I have, phew. This time I had a camera shoved up my nose and down the back of my throat, blooming uncomfortable it was. They mentioned neuralgia of the throat, they see many patients with throat pain and don't fully understand what the cause is, and as my Gastroscopy (camera down throat) back in August was normal, they say there is no cause for concern, so I am happy with that. There is a funny side to all of this... this now means I've had a camera shove at both ends, plus one up my nose, is there anywhere left they can shove a camera? I know I enjoy photography, but enough is enough now. Then today, back at the hospital with my daughter who has a suspected appendicitis, was there all day and we have to go back again tomorrow for her to have two scans, and then surgery if necessary, meanwhile she is in agony, poor thing. All this ill health going around, none of us signed up for this did we? |

My surviving grandmother left us before she passed away, saw out her days in a care home with severe dementia, not a clue who anyone was. I always remember her best days, as curator of Mary Queen of Scots House in Jedburgh. I spent many hours there as a youngster. |

Be very careful about that Wes. I saw the GP with stomach pain a few years ago, she said it was a bug going around. That afternoon I was doubled up in agony that came on like somebody had flickered a switch, had to call an ambulance. Filled with morphine and rushed to hospital where my appendix was removed, it had actually burst! I spent a week in hospital on IV antibiotics.

I am sorry to hear your daughter is having a bad time of it and is in agony with the pain. Hopefully the hospital will be able to get to the source of the problem and make her pain go away. Take care |
