There are mistakes in this model, Lotus 72D. Wrong part numbers, the order of the engine construction is not right. Same with the gearbox/trans axle, which I have had to take apart twice to get another part to fit. Some of the screws need to be longer.

I have built the FIAT racer, complete with chain drive. You had to build the chain link by link. Sold the model when finished.

Built the Saffron Rolls-Royce, 72 spokes per wheel. 4 road wheels plus 2 spares. This model you actually build the internals to the engine. It could be motorised and the lights wired up. Wind up windows, locking doors and folding convertible roof. Built for a friend who built me a one off cut section of HMS Victory, showing the decks below. Still have the model.

Built two Lamborghini Aventadors, split roof in Bermuda Blue and the solid roof in Nemesis Black. I still have both along with the correct display cases.

So Lotus will get built, even if it ages me a bit. I spend a couple hours a day on it. Then pack up.
Good morning Bob,

A fascinating project you have got there building the Lotus.

How did you get into building model cars?

I started at an early age with Meccano and Airfix but didn’t progress onto anything else.

Keep us posted

And then I'll hold you in my dreams

Morning all, It was a frosty morning when I first got up & thought I'll have another ten minutes in bed where it's warm which turned into a hour & half.

I had a call from the consultant at Christies yesterday evening for a review of my treatment. Going to the toilet is much worse than ever since I've been on radio therapy so I'm getting some medication today to make me go otherwise it's a trip & a looooooong wait at Bolton A&E to have a catheter fitted Bolton A&E is horrendous since Wigan A&E stopped people going there last week for anything other than life or death situations.

Morning all! I appear to have the happy medium temperature here of seven degrees, which feels tropical after the last couple of months.

Well, if you insist, I started my new modules this week: Human Computer Interaction and Games Programming. In the introductory class for HCI we were shown a few different WW2-era bomb sights to demonstrate how the user interface improved over time.

How interesting and to see the history for a comparison.

You never know what doors will open for you once you have finished university. I have a nephew who was brought up on computers and now he works in I.T for the British Secret Service, although we are not supposed to know about it. I think he has done okay for himself.

You asked in an earlier post what was my year ahead looking like? Thank you

Next month I am joining in a bash at the coast for another nephew who is getting married. In April we are flying to South Africa to check on the family farm, the control of its fire breaks and non indigenous vegetation. Then at the end of May, we are flying to the UK for the summer and I am to have an operation to repair an aneurysm in the right knee. Recovery and rehabilitation will take me through until October/Nov, all being well
