Arghhhhhhhhhh! There seems to be no communication whatsoever between the hospital, the GP, and the care system. If I wasn't here to push, would mum be sitting in her chair, wet, soiled, broken and hungry or even worse? All the people that she saw on the evening of her fall, ambulance crew, Triage crew, X ray staff and the doctor that discharged her, were told that she lived alone and had no carers coming in. The carers have confirmed that you need specialist training in order to handle injured people without hurting them even more. I have my own health, medical and mental health problems, which mean that I struggle to look after myself, let alone a broken 98 year old. My kids live away and my son has Parkinsons, so I just have to keep brave and push for mum. It is taking a toll.

Temp hasn't been anywhere near zero never mind above it all day. Nearly got frostbite sorting the recycling and putting it out for the morning. No snow, instead crystal clear skies, dead calm and heatless sun. One of mine as well Phil, I've retained a passion for cooking but I'll mainly cook for Ging, I very rarely eat a "substantial" meal because I know it'll bugr me up! We had our Christmas dinner mid afternoon, it was about 24 hours before I could face even a slice of toast.

The frozen snow is still here & not risen above 0C all day, The temps have dropped off again to -2C & falling overnight to -3C. I couldn't even get into the greenhouse this afternoon as the door was frozen shut I dare say the seedlings in there are toast even covered in bubblewrap.
Cumberland sausages, mash & peas for tea tonight.

I had to thump the bin lid hard to break the ice and open it earlier!
Forecast -4 (poss lower) overnight here, quite believe it, currently -2 and only a few whispy clouds in an otherwise clear sky. |

Medequip is on contract to the NHS and Norfolk Council, have a read of the screen shots I have done and hopefully Medequip will help you. After Jessica broke her hip, Medequip supplied walking frames, crutches and the electric hospital bed, a toilet seat riser was useful and all equipment was on loan for 12 months ordered by a community physiotherapist who was contracted by the NHS. The NHS organised them to come. Medequip says you can do an online self referral. I am sorry the NHS has let your mum down. I would like to finish the day with some good news:
From todays endoscopy, no signs of stomach or oesophageal cancer and todays inspection of the stomach lining showed it looked much better than it looked during the last endoscopy in 2020. Today a biopsy was taken and the results will be known in 2 weeks time. The next thing to sort out, is to see a cardiologist for a second opinion, if I need a pacemaker or not. All in all a better day. |

Glad the endoscopy went well Phil. I had an endoscopy donkey's years ago, it was a horrible experience. When I was told I needed one due to my liver problem I said ok but I want the sedation. Went along, the guy said things were a lot better now, talked me out of it . . . . I fell for it . . . . still a bleedin' awful experience. Because of my condition I needed six monthly endoscopies, that's why I was delighted when they changed my medication and eliminated the need.

Norfolk County Council lady rang yesterday afternoon after the saga of unsuccessful phone calls and being run around Norfok and Suffolk to meet me at mums as, it seems, that they CAN sort out the disability aids. Whilst having a meeting with her, my phone rang and it was the GP's enablement lady saying that she was sorting it out! I handed the phone to the NCC lady and asked her to liaise direct!!! From no-one could help and passing me on, to they all want to help!!! Add to that all the "You are No. 19 in the queue and your call is important to us!" and the choose option number .... and repeating mums info over and over again, I am worn out. When I got home last night I was in pain and physically shaking so much that I struggled to hold a cup to my mouth to drink tea!
Hopefully.................. all now sorted and the care package will be fulfilled. Mum was knackered after the two and a half hour meeting (interrogation) yesterday! A couple of inches of snow here now, so hope that they can get around OK. Thanks for all the info. Much appreciated.
