I am lucky I picked up my Interceptor 21 years ago but if I was going to buy it now I would have to find 8 times what I paid for it back then. |

She even has the heavy duty 4 speed box just as my old 1982 LS did back in the day, my 86 laser has the 5 speed box, it will be interesting to determine which box feels better. It's just so nice to get back to old school motoring, back to basics and none of this modern rubbish. |

My mother married a guy who had a (signal?) red mk3 1.3L. Not even.a headrest, brown check.seats, stereo had to be fitted as it was an unlocked option, no rear wiper but did have a heated window. Totally solid, ziebarted from.new.

I always wanted a Capri.......... until I drove one! The car salesman couldn't believe it when I said "Sorry mate. I'll stick with my Granada thanks"! Enjoy the nostalgia.

Your "previous owned" 59 year old jag may not be anywhere near original now. Even new tubs are available never mind brake and suspension upgrades. When a car is going for big money it obviously allows a renovator more leeway to make a good job of it! Kev |

My Father played Golf with the manager of the local Jaguar dealer in the 70's. He was telling my Father he had a new car he could not get rid of and was he interested in it? It was one of the last E types in dark green and he offered it to my father at 30% off. My father declined as he believed Green cars were unlucky.

So it seems I've bought a lemon, a very expensive one at that.
Had the L for two weeks now and its currently sat on drive with rear wheels locked up, first thoughts were handbrake mechanism, but it moves freely. Second thoughts rear cylinders, but they are moving the shoes in and out, so not quite sure. Jack car up and wheels move freely, O/S wheel is stiff on a full rotation, seems drum may be not true and shoes are rubbing on a full turn. Drums look ok though, no real wear, but car is struggling to pull away as wheels are definitely locking up. I have spent the last two days searching for 8" (203mm) rear drums, there isn't none anywhere, all out of stock and no one can get any. Plus, I'm sure I can hear the servo constantly hissing. So it seems the previous owner has told me a few fibs... |
