Mofo means the IPK diagnostics which you activate using the ignition key and the trip computer button. But this will only show the coolant temperature leaving the engine which isn't going to help you. The thermostat is positioned in the coolant return hose from the radiator.

You need to start by checking that your radiator is free-flowing.

Thanks Simon
I have not long come off the phone with Steve (Arctic) and we have come to the conclusion Its the thermostat housing as there is a little water sitting in the V and if you look to the top right you can see the securing bolt is missing

I need to find a new bolt before I tackle this (Any ideas ??) Please

Its possible that it is actualy in the V somewhere. But any of the traders on here should be able to help.

If it is the thermostat housing leaking, then you would have a substantial amount of water loss.
If the water level is where it should be, then most likely a stuck close thermostat.

Blockage of the radiator is a possibility, but I really doubt it.

A stuffed water pump is also possible, but unlikely.

If the car moves freely it is not a fan, as the cooling from ram air should be enough.

And, just to add, a missing bolt is not having anything to do with this, since all the goodies are still in place. By all means stick it in there, but it has no bearing on what you are seeing.

The bolt has a MG rover part number so X-Part and maybe Rimmers should have it.

Kaiser is saying that the missing bolt and a small amount of coolant in the V does not explain a cold bottom radiator hose. So the bolt is not the cause of your overheating.

I think you should check the water and see if there is enough.
If there is enough, I think your thermostat is shot.

The thermostat sits in the housing in the V and works on the return flow from the radiator. If that is blocked (stuck in the closed position), water will only circulate through the heater and will rapidly cool in the radiator, making the return pipe cold to the touch.

But check water first and make sure you haven't lost any.
