You may well find that the roof rails (and many other parts common to all makes of cars which don't effect the overall shape of the vehicle) are made by one of only a handfull of companies who supply the same part to all the different manufacturers.

The majority of car makers will buy parts which people don't often see straight off the shelf and adapt their design to suit the component, rather than designing a component to fit into a specific space.

Taking a slighty different direction on this...

I saw on .org that the new SAIC/Roewe/SsangYong 450 model has the 75's pedals, footrest and carpets!

IIRC Ian/EssexMGR over on .org was told when he had his car shunted/repaired that the 75's front brakes and hubs are straight off a 3-series.

While a lot of the Roewe may look like our 75s there is very little that crosses over between the two. Obviously carpets may well do and things like that but in terms of the actual car there is very little that will. Its all down to it being back engineered and while things may look the same the tolerances and the fit will probably not be any good for our cars.

The MG7 will be a different kettle of fish and a lot of that car will fit ours.

Err, you're taking about the Roewe 750 - the 450 is SAIC's take on the stillborn MGR RDX60/Rover 45 replacement based on the 75 platform.

Either way we need some contacts in China - maybe some enterprising person over there will start selling 75/ZT/750/MG7 parts on eBay....

CAT Logistics (Xpart) will be supplying MG7 parts to the trade and retail.
