Ian. You should know by now that sometimes we descend into absolute devilment. As an aside, we have, or used to have First Utility’ as our gas and electric supplier. They have been taken over by Shell Energy. All members who register are going to get 3% off at shell fuel stations. Now that should help mpg don’t you think.I only get 1pence off at Asda per litre. So that is 200% more off. Got to be the deal of the year.

You will however pay a lot more for Shell fuel when compared to ASDA's offerrings.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

You are correct there. I am at the moment, after many years of getting my diesel from Asda, trying out for a few brimfulls of BP ultimate. I must admit, the car seems more lively, could be the placebo effect I suppose tho. I always log what I buy on the computer, so will soon see if mpg is any different to usual.

I have always found it faster and more economic travelling from England to the South of France and slower etc coming back up to England. But there may be another explanation other than yours Ian. Chris S.

Of your going up hill then fuel usage will more. if your going down hill then fuel usage will be less driving at the same speed depending on wind direction or speed. if you get confused then live in Lincolnshire, Norfolk or Suffolk.
Alternatively remove some weight such as the odd wing mirror or the handle on the gear stick if it is a manual or the odd bolt you may not need and the next time you go either north or south and it will cost you less
