As has been suggested, replacing the hub and cleaning the backplate was the first thing I tried.
However, an update on some suggestions. Fitting two rear sensors but leaving them loose inside the car does work at least for a while, but the ABS light came on when I hit 40mph. As was suggeted, a reset with a pscan and laptop could get this arrangement through the mot. I attempted to test the sensor using a meter and remote battery, but while the method has been desribed I really need to see a wiring diagram of this method to be sure of doing this correctly, as it is, I think I wreaked the sensor even if it wasn't already faulty, which I think it was. To conclude, a new sensor plus a third new hub has fixed the problem which I am almost certain was the sensor all the time. |
