Why were you banned from the kitchen Derek? I would love to see some photographs of your naval days if you don't mind? I love reading about old warships and seeing pictures.

Do you Phil? I have the list of ranks & paylist from HMS WARRIOR 1861,rufurbed here in Hartlepool,& currently berthed in Portsmouth. IE..Captain..Daily pay/20 shillings
Master at Arms.2/3d per day
barber..1/1d per day
just a few of the crew's wages.I have the full list,fascinating

Yes! I think old warships are fascinating. Even the ocean liners that were taken for the war effort, RMS Olymic rammed and sank a U boat, that is fascinating. What went through the minds of the crew on the ship, for example. I wish some of these ships had been preserved.

To read the full list of crew & their titles/pay is an insight to Britain's first Steam powered,iron clad warship.There were 12 bandsmen,who each got 16/- ,on a warship
