Could have ot a higher spec, but the condition and milage on the car screamed out at me to have it !!!

Anyway, hello & thanks all, i'll be in touch when it breaks down
Welcome to the club. Sounds like a good move you made there. You'll definitely have a better driving experience with the 75. As stated by the others, you don't need to break down to post on the forums. The guys are really friendly and will chat about practically anything. Sometimes at length. Just keep an eye on all the things you've been reading about our cars and try to catch any potential problems before they happen. Shouldn't be too difficult with all the info on this site! Happy motoring.

It won't be long before we're having to explain that Skoda joke to younger owners. They've definitely improved since the old days of having a rear engine to keep your hands warm when pushing it.

DITTO ON THE PLENUMS!

Welcome, Phil, to a great club. Print off some flyers, and get posting!

Jules,

I'm only in one band, does that make me a Single Bass player?

Thanks for all the welcomes.

Only joking about waiting till the car breaks down for my next post.

Will do the plenum mod at the earliest oppurtunity.

p.s. my 1st car WAS a skoda........ a 105 estelle, not even the super estelle !!!! my dad gave it me when i passed my test in the 80's. I remember modding that... I had to fill the bonnet(engine was in the back) with bricks so when the bonnet flew open sideways, and acted like an aeroplane wing, the front wheels stayed on the road !!!!

Ah, how things have improved.... catch you all soon...

Phil, I see you are in Ashton - I live in Hyde. Funnily enough I had a (2) Skoda Estelle in the 80s as well!!

If you are unsure where to take your car for service/repair etc I can reccomend "Phoenix Motor Company Ltd" they are on Windmill Lane Industrial Estate in Denton. I have no association with them other than as a customer, and their prices and service have been great to date, [Last time I was there Phil (the mechanic/director with 20 years at Rover main agent experience) was telling me they had been accepted into the X-Part network and they have the elusive T4 as well .

Drop me a PM if you want their phone number, see you on the M60 .

Thanks for that David, I know windmill lane well, used to live in Denton, I will give them a try when the service is due... you'll not be surprised that the only way i could get enough torque to get my skoda up a certain stretch of road in werneth low was to reverse up, good times....

You won't break down mate! Despite what clueless, naive people say about 'rrrrrrovers' this is a very special car and you won't regret buying it. Have fun with your dream machine.
