That's what my brother said, so I looked at the deals, and found them very expensive to upgrade to. I have to say the only reason I chose my DHD was because it's a free upgrade. Now my brother is less than impressed with his I telephone, as is my mate; both have complained about reliability and signal... Also, to replace the battery, the I telephone has to be dismantled! I feel they are more about image than functionality.

Seconded, I love my DHD. The extra screen size really does help.
I wouldn't choose an iphone unless you don't like to tinker, you can only do what Apple let you do on an iphone whereas the android option is more configurable and customisable.

Oh Oh, fight!!!

Not strictly true as you can always get your Iphone jail broken, not that I suggest you should
I think one of the reasons Iphones work so well is because Apple structure their tech not to be fiddled with, that may seem restrictive to some but a phone that doesn't keep crashing, need resetting and having apps that just....well, work more than makes up for it for me.
All I can add is that since having had an Iphone 4 and then an 4s and an ipad 1, soon to be an ipad 3 I don't think I would have anything else.
As for the battery, I hear what your saying but I don't think I've ever had to change a battery in any mobile phone I've had. Always long upgraded before the battery has needed to be replaced. Also one of the reasons the phone is well built and doesn't feel flimsy is the sealed nature of the construction.
Guess I'm sounding a bit like an Apple fanboy here

Changing the battery in an iphone isn't rocket science, how often do you need to change a phone battery ?

I prefer android because I'm in charge I'm not paying more for less

I'm running a custom ROM, which you can't do on an iphone, but if you're not interested in that kind of thing, and you have money to burn then the iphone is definitely worth considering

I always try and get a spare battery for my phones as they are very useful when camping, I can have one on charge whilst I use the other. Now some people will see that battery life is one of the failings of 'smartphones', and I won't disagree but you do have the equivalent of a personal computer in your pocket, though if I turn off wi-fi/bluetooth et al and switch to 2G I can get three days out of it.

Oh, and I use a Desire HD with a custom ROM so Android FTW!

Round four!!
Whilst still on the battery side of things.
Yep, very useful to be able to change your battery when running short of juice...........But!!
Just about everything made these days has an Ipod/Iphone dock for charging, hifi's, clock radios, kitchen sink (made that one up) even Radio guys double din
Also you can buy cases that extend the battery life!
Two rounds each!!

Have had a few different androids and now on an iPhone
The choice of apps for the iPhone is better but the androids can usually be customised more.
Battery life is comparable but as said if you use all the functions you can quickly drain the battery on both types.
The latest iPhones are expensive but there are some good deals on the 3GS. I find the iPhone better for accessing the forum and other web pages. It does work differently and isn't ready to use out of the box like the androids

The whole spare battery thing is a red herring anyway, I use a USB charger pack for my phone and gadgets.

It's a battery about the size of a phone which you charge overnight, then when your phone needs a charge you just plug it in. It holds enough power to charge my phone 8 times before needing a charge itself.

Mine is a bit bulky but you can buy smaller ones that'll charge a phone 2-3 times for not much money. I also charge everyone elses phone in the house, along with a kindle, tablet, speakers, headphones etc.

Me too, I seem to split my time between running Leedroid and ARHD roms, anything better (but stable) out there ?

I've only used CyanogenMod on the DHD and I've never had any issue with it, I may change if they release an ICS ROM though.

Sounds interesting! Is it something like this?
