Sadly I wouldn't get your hopes up

Sadly I agree with you.

A family member had issues with West Mids Police following a car ringing scam. It was obviously professional as VIN plates were "remanufactured" and, by chance, they had photos of the seller which they gave to the Police. WMP have done absolutely nothing and haven't even replied to a formal complaint.

Mostly thanks to our precious gov't
whose aim seems to be one police station per county. Would not believe how many stations have been closed in Staffordshire.

Since Covid a lot of the public sector seem to have gone AWOL.

So long as you and quizzi are ok, that’s the main thing. I would think the front wing and the scratched bumper should not take much to do. And thanks for still coming to the social evening after that happening. I hope the police do their job for a change and chase this up. Don’t hold your breath tho. They seem to be completely useless now. To idle to get their backsides off the seat of their racing cars. I am thinking of not paying the Police Precept part of my council tax next year. Sick and tired of that part going up more than the actual council tax itself. I will keep my eyes open for a decent wing for you.

Even with a partial number they should be able to get the driver, unless your local police are completly useless they will follow this up as its an easy case to solve and the driver will get a fine, points and you should be able to claim on there insurance if they have any. You need to be carefull with a claim as a lot of insurance companies are automatically writting off anything over 8 years old even for minor damage. Might be safer not to claim.

I've informed my insurance (LV) as I'm required to do and the very nice and helpful lady confirmed that I wasn't claiming but sent a link for the photos/footage so they have a record of the incident. It was comforting when both of us had Google maps up and I was talking her through what happened using the landmarks, vehicles on Google Maps and roadside furniture to explain and describe the collisions. We'll see what happens.

The level of competence by West Mids Police so far doesn't bode well. I've now been told to complete the on line reporting form twice more - despite having an email acknowledgement of it's completion, being given the Ref No at the top of this thread in that email and quoting it in my follow ups trying to find out who the Investigating Officer is, where they are based and how they would like the dash cam footage uploaded/delivered.

As they say, time will tell.

Hi Andy. John who was with me at the social evening, he sat next to you, had an accident bringing his wife from Good Hope Hospital Sutton, to home about 8 weeks ago. He had a woman drive into the back of him (all on camera). He had a problem with her , said she would cough up instead of going through the insurance. NO! He had to go to the police three days later because she would not answer his calls. They eventually gave him her insurance details, which was forwarded to the insurance company. Long story short, it cost £1,200 odd to repair and spray the rear bumper and replace one reversing sensor. His insurance company have sent her insurance company the details and cost, and are waiting to see if they REPLY. If they don’t reply in one month it will be a court case. Meanwhile he is waiting for his excess back, which he won’t get until the case is settled.Thought I would give you some hope on your claim. Although he had her name and the reg number of the car. Best of luck Andy, and let us know what happens.
