I agree 100% with the sentiments being expressed.... But then I saw that series one lwb Daimler Double six VDP that was for sale recently.... awwww.... Now that really WAS a touch of class... *sighs*

Prob is I am a spoiled brat now innit... I would be looking for ABS, Air con, a "floaty ride", good road holding, very little engine noise, good fuel economy, rustproofing, parking sensors... etcetera etcetera etcetera innit.. Do'hhhhh

I just turned 26 in October and love every bit of the Rover 75 V8. Completely different beast to what I'm used to, but that engine puts a smile on my face every day!

You only live once, go out and do whatever you want!

Insurance: I'm about £50 a year more than when I had a ZT-T cdti
Fuel: I converted to LPG so monthly fuel costs are no more than said cdti

I do around 25,000 miles a year and so far have put over 70,000 miles on my 260

OK road tax is a bit high (I have a late reg car and is around £400 , but an earlier car would be half that), but I have a car which I'll still want to keep when it's over 100,000 miles and looking at resale prices it doesn't appear to be depreciating much as the miles increase.

Why wouldn't you want to?

My first car, when i was 17 in 1987 was a 1978 302 cu in V8 (5litre) Ford Mustang, cost me one weeks wages per month to insure....and was worth every penny, if only for the sound it made and the pleasure of polishing it.

Sounds like if you don't do it, regret is going to follow you the rest of your life.

Though we have young owners I doubt there will be too many due to the brain washing currently going around about how bad cars are to the environment. These electric cars seem to becoming more mainstream over the next few years (dead end until technology improves). I say change the diets of farm animals. Anyway, the 75 and ZT V8 will be the last time an affordable V8 is produced. Even MG China are only looking at putting a V6 into the RWD platform so if you have a wish to be V8'ed do it.

Me and my car are lifers

There will be a lot of us at Brooklands in April if you want to have a touchy-feely session.

I fear todays youth will, mostly, never get to drive a V8 beast - who buys em now-a-days? Only those old enough to have enough NCB to afford insurance and retired folk who do 10 miles a week to the shop so can afford the fuel!
Who makes em now-a-days? Luxury car makers I suppose but that market's not what it was so wont be so many finding their way into the second hand market in years to come plus with all the green issues we all feel so strongly aboutperhaps the end of big engine cars is in sight - I so hope not.

I want a V8. Cant afford to buy, run or maintain one but I want one. Even if it only drives a few miles a year and spends most of its time under a blanket. I want to hear the roar of a proper engine. Dont get me wrong, I love the 75 Tourer diesel - nicest car i've owned by a long way, I just want a car that makes me feel BAD
