Having changed the master the garage report that the clutch is still heavy and that this probably contributed to the master failing as it did which makes sense.

This probably means replacing the clutch and slave, the garage aren't Rover specialists so of course they can't guarantee the flywheel but I'm inclined to re-use the existing one in the absence of any known problem.
There were no clutch issues before the master went other than a heavy pedal and occasional stiffness if the clutch was not fully depressed. There was no judder, vibration or clunking.

Good news is that it only needs some new anti-roll bar links on the front for the MOT.
