Right 1st job is to fit the vapouriser, I decided to fit it down behind the n/s headlight as this was where it fitted on my last ZT and as you know there is just no room around the V6 engine.
So its off with the front of the car only to fit this- And - So it now needs a new Rad and condenser (it was falling to bits). Still more jobs to do with the front is off. Jobs done -Coolant lever sensor fitted to header tank, new Shannon tube and vapouriser fitted. The vapouriser was plumbed into the coolant system in series to the heater. It you plumb the vapouriser in parallel by using Ts, I found that once the thermostat opens the coolant pressure drops through the heater and flow backs off through the vapouriser (this caused my last ZT's vapouriser to freeze up). You can also see next to the vapouriser the front solenoid/valve and the inlet manifold pressure sensor and there's also a coolant/vapouriser temp sensor just behind the top hose. Both new rads now fitted- I also found a 3 speed cooling on a 2004! And its low speed was not working, so I fitted new brushes and did the 'upgrading a 3 speed for longer life' which Converts the existing 3 speed fan to a single speed fan by using all four brushes for maximum life and Incorporates a resistor to provide both slow and fast fan speed operation, details can be found - http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...t=21176&page=2 in post 18 (this should be a 'how to'). Fan back on and tested!

Cheers, I think I've got a bit carried away with the pictures, still I've started so I will finish.

Next its fitting the lpg nozzels which means off with the inlet manifolds.
Found the gasket leaking- Both manifolds drilled and tapped with the nozzels- Manifolds back on and gas injectors in position (please note the cables ties with be replaced with brackets at a later date).- Next is find and fit the tank/filler and do the ecu/wiring.

Superb details mate, great thread this, always fancied a LPG conversion, but I have always preferred Diesel. Still I do have a lovely 2.6 V6 Audi 80 was going to convert but £1200 quote put a nail in that coffin. I don't do anywhere near enough milage to warrant the spend.

Great to see how convinced you are by LPG. I think it's such an underrated way of running a 75 or ZT with a very nice engine. My 75 runs so well on LPG, I can't understand why so few people use it.
Enjoying reading about your conversion, and it's a great way of finding other jobs while you're working on it! Keep up the good work!

Excellent project and as said a great way to run a v6 at reasonable cost. |
