Test 5 more of the same before you decide. 90% of used cars have faults on them and is probably the reason the seller is trying to get rid

Without technological technicalities, I'd go for the Red one, about £1500 cheaper than the Blue one, a lot of savings to cover sorting any niggling faults.
Sorry for the simplistic description of the cars, thought it the quickest way of saying what I mean. |

A 1.8 T even in tuned form will wipe the floor with a 190 and a 180 ZS on those journeys in MPG, Had it been motorway work theres a lot less in it

"There was another one I have seen on Autotrader which is a 1.8t 160 firefrost with gunsmoke seats. It's very cheap and claims 1 lady owner, but on doing a Car text check, came back with 4 owners, so I might discount that one!!!"
It was an honest, if slightly misleading description, three male owners and one female owner, equals one Lady owner. |

I have only ever driven the bog standard zs not the 2.5.
With regard to the ZT 190 you should find you can run in 5th at town speeds, and while it is a big heavy car it should shift somewhat for overtaking purposes. Compared to my 800 vitesse the 190 isn't particulary quick away but does have a decent punch mid range and of course a great soundtrack which the 4 pot engine always lacked. I would suspect the ZS might still be quicker due to kerbweight than the 190 though, but should'nt be a lot in it and definately can run right up to the red line if required. As everyone else says the only way to find out is to compare and contrast...

Hi, I can confirm that a 190 will happily bumble around in top gear if required. I do the same and it pulls quite happily, if not strongly, from 15mph in top. Then when you do wind it up it makes a lovely noise. Probably not as quick as your ZS but if you're used to the V6 you won't want to go back to a 4 cylinder of any sort.
I just about manage 30mpg on a run and obviously less round town (I've never measured it, I don't want to know!). Like you I have a short commute, then take it on longer trips at the weekend to give it a proper workout. |

The diesels pull strongly from just 1800rpm (especially with a 160 upgrade) They will keep pulling past 3500 rpm, but its hardly worth it because it wastes fuel, and will be just as fast by changing up earlier. If the revs are lower than 1800 rpm in any gear you may find it to be a bit sluggish. If you keep the revs between 1800 and 3,500 rpm you will have plenty of torque available (unlike a petrol engine that requires higher revs to gain maximum output) Perhaps it won't feel as fast as a petrol (less commotion) but it certainly will be.
For example my car would be doing around 100 mph at only 3500 rpm. |

Having owned 4 Zt v6 fuel eaters Im happy with my barge, a little noisey but now Im getting it like new slowly I leave the 190s to the chaps that know the man at the fuel pump by name lol!
Ive not replaced my vis motors or inlet manifold yet. Its not the power but the torque a man told me in August buying a 160 bhp 2.2 Merc. Now I know as I enjoy the power but dont like the Derv smell on my feet! |
