And I always make space for my fishing rods on a trip to France. Bit of a running joke in the family... They've been at least 5 times from places as far apart as Frejus, Bordeaux, Brittany and La Rochelle, done nearly 6,000 miles and have been used twice, for a sum total of about 90 minutes.
Last time I tried at Carnac plage, I bent my daughters plastic beach spade frantically trying to dig for lugworms!
I always have visions of me lazing away sunny afternoons beside the river with some beers, don't ever seem to have the time!!!

The facelift headlamps have the beam converters built in, you just have to move a small lever inside each headlamp and it removes the raised part of the dipped beam that would otherwise dazzle an oncoming driver

I know they're there as I tested both last week when I fitted a new radiator & A/C condensor.

Spare serpentine belt is in the boot, however I fitted a new one a few months ago when I replaced the crank pulley (Corteco ).

By the time we leave, my CDTi will have had a very thorough 'refresh' (full rear suspension & subframe, brakes, clutch, radiators - coolant & a/c, tyres, crank pulley, all brake pipes, EGR & manifold cleaned, stainless tank straps, starter contacts, oils & all filters replaced, etc.) but are there any spares that might be useful to take with us (just in case...) ?

I've just received new crank & camshaft sensors from DMGRS, and I have a spare under bonnet fuel pump & ignition key somewhere to carry with us.

Anything else I've missed...???
Where are you going to in France? Toured many times in my mgzt260, jaguar Xjs convertible and my jaguar XK8 convertible.

Don't forget a spare wheel and tyre, the last thing you want is a puncture and you have to manage with a can of gloop!
Enjoy the trip,I love France!.

This is a great thread! I bought a non runner ZT CDTi and after Terry Shaw got it running I’ve done 4k miles in 3 months never missed a beat but as I was reassured Terry checked the lot it’s never missed a beat in the M54 and M6 to Coventry every day not a worry. These may me old now but decent mileage luggers.

Like France for its N roads. Good mileage can be covered in a short time. Watch the speed camera’s hidden in the side of the roads. We knocked up 2,200 miles when we went to the Loire area one year. Steady 80 on the m/ways soon gets you to your destinations. Love southern France. Little traffic on main roads. Would love to drive down to Bordeaux and then over into Spain, down to Portugal, just to try a little aperitif in the bodega’s.

That sounds excellent - enjoy!
I'm sure you'll be fine, but if you do encounter an unexpected failure feel free to give us a call - we do have next-day services to most of Europe now, and might be able to help get you out of a pickle.

Have a beer (or wine) for me while you're over there!

If you're in Nantes, go see the machines and puy du fou as they're both excellent.
We go via the tunnel and drive down using the pay roads till Honfleur area then put the sat to non pay roads, much better.
Love driving in France and have done most years since 2008 to all areas.
